A elderly woman has been left injured after being sexually assaulted within her own home on Christmas Eve.

A 32-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident that took place in the early hours of Tuesday in South Lanarkshire.

The attack took place in the victim's house on Coldstream Drive, Rutherglen.

Emergency services attended and the woman was treated for minor injuries.

An investigation was launched and following enquiries, officers arrested a 32-year-old.   He is due to appear court on Friday.
