A man has been arrested over an alleged attack on Rangers assistant manager Gary McAllister that left him requiring stitches.

The former Scotland captain was said to be assaulted outside a pub in Leeds city centre in the early hours of Sunday morning.

McAllister, who played for Leeds United during his playing days, was having a night out in the city after travelling to watch a Liverpool legends game at Anfield.

Yorkshire Police have now arrested a 32-year-old man in connection with the incident.

A spokesman for the force said: "He has been released under investigation and enquiries remain ongoing."
