A man has died after a fire at a high-rise flat in Glasgow on Tuesday morning.

The 37-year-old was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where he later died.

Four fire engines and an aerial appliance were sent to the scene in Kirkton Avenue, Knightswood after reports of the fire at 5.45am.

A Police spokeswoman confirmed that the fire is not being treated as suspicious.

She said: "We were called to reports of a fire at multi-storey flats in Kirkton Avenue, Knightswood, at around 5.45am on Tuesday.

"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
