School bus smashes into houses after careering off road

A school bus has smashed into a row of houses after a crash with a car.

Emergency services were called to Carnbroe Road in Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire, at 3.15pm on Friday.

The driver of the bus and car suffered minor injuries while no children were injured.

Officers have closed the road while investigations are being carried out.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "The bus and a car collided.

"No pupils were on board at the time."

Barry Campbell, who lives near the scene, said:

"The police are still here but the bus and car have been taken away.

"The school kids had just been dropped off at the terminal which is directly across from the house that the bus smashed into. It's only about 10 meters away.

"All the kids were in shock."
