Detectives probing the murder of a man in Glasgow have returned to the area where he was found injured, two weeks after the incident.

Billy Joe Bates was found seriously hurt in Ashgill Road, in the Milton area, at around 2.30pm on November 18.

The 28-year-old, from the city, was taken by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary, but he died in the early hours of November 22.

Both plain clothed and uniform officers returned to the street on Sunday to speak to people in an attempt to jog their memories for information which could help the investigation.

Police Scotland's chief inspector Suzie Chow said: "The friends and family of Mr Bates have been left completely devastated by his murder and we are appealing for the community of Milton to support us in finding out what happened to him and why."

Officers have been speaking to pedestrians and motorists, who may travel through the area on a regular basis, "in the hope that they can remember something they saw or heard which seemed out of the ordinary".

She added: "Even the slightest detail could be important in helping us get to the bottom of this murder investigation and provide answers for the family of Mr Bates."
