A man was seriously injured after being attacked by armed men at his home in Glasgow.

The 33-year-old was assaulted by two men at his house on Toryglen Road at around 3.30pm on Tuesday.

After attacking the man with a baseball bat and a knife the pair shouted threats at him and ran off.

Emergency services were called and the victim was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where medical staff describe his condition as stable.

Both suspects are tall and of an average build. They had local accents and were wearing balaclavas.

One of the men was wearing a white hooded top while the other had a dark top.

Constable Paul Mooney said: "This was a violent and targeted attack on a man within his own home. The two men responsible left the property in a hurry, whilst shouting.

"Violence of any kind will not be tolerated in our communities and therefore it is vital that we trace those responsible."

Officers are carrying out door-to-door enquiries and checking CCTV footage, and anyone who has information on the incident is being asked to come forward.

DC Mooney added: "Think back, do you remember seeing or hearing anything out of the ordinary in the area yesterday afternoon? We urge you to contact us."

Anyone with information can contact police on 101.
