Three teenagers were stabbed with swords while celebrating exam results in a park.

The attack happened between Overlee Park and Netherton Braes in Clarkston, Renfrewshire, at 8.15pm on Tuesday.

STV News understands three youths, who were all male, were attacked with swords in a brawl, which broke out while they were celebrating their exam results.

Another teenager suffered a head injury during the altercation.

The youngsters were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

One victim remains in hospital in a stable condition after receiving treatment for a stab wound.

Sergeant Jim McLauchlan said: "We believe this to be an isolated incident involving two separate groups of teenagers in the area and extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances around what happened.

"Police are following a positive line of enquiry in relation to the incident and I would urge any members of the public who were in the park yesterday evening and witnessed a disturbance, or anything at all suspicious, to get in touch."

Inspector Bryan McGeogh added: "I understand this incident will cause concern amongst the local community however I would like to reiterate that it is believed to be isolated and police are following a positive line of enquiry.

"Additional patrols will be in the area to provide reassurance and I would urge anyone with information or concerns to approach our officers or contact Giffnock police station via 101."

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokeswoman added: "We dispatched one paramedic response unit, four ambulances and the specialist operation response team to the scene.

"Four young males were taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow."
