Two men injured in knife attack as they sat in van
One victim was stabbed and the other was slashed during the attack in Greenock.
Two men were injured in a knife attack as they sat in a van on a busy street in Greenock.
The victims were in a silver Renault Traffic van on Weir Street when two men approached their vehicle just after 4.30pm on Saturday.
The men smashed the windows of the van before the victims, aged 28 and 36, were assaulted with a knife.
One was stabbed while the other man was cut.
Both men were treated at Invercylde Royal Hospital before later being released.
Detective sergeant Neil Martin said: "Officers are following a number of lines of enquiry in relation to this incident.
"We believe that this was a targeted attack on these two men and officers are in the area carrying out house to house enquiries and gathering CCTV footage to establish more information on this serious assault and identify the two men responsible.
"At the time of the incident, Weir Street and Sinclair Street would have been busy, and I would urge any witnesses, or anyone with information that will assist our investigation to contact police at Greenock police office through 101 quoting reference number 3426 of July 21.
