Part of Dumfries town centre was closed off for several hours after a fire broke out in a shop.

Fire crews were called to a building housing a Burton and Dorothy Perkins shortly before 5pm on Saturday.

The High Street was sealed off as crews doused the building with water.

No injuries were reported and the fire was brought under control by 8.39pm.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service posted on Twitter: "Amber Watch and Dumfries RDS in attendance at a fire on Dumfries High Street this evening.

"No injuries to report and the fire was brought under control quickly through quick intervention from crews."

The street was reopened later on Saturday evening.
