Schools across Ayrshire have been recognised for their inclusive learning environments.

At the fourth annual East Ayrshire Dyslexia Friendly Schools award ceremony, held at Dumfries House, 14 schools were given the prestigious award.

The model they are using embraces national best practice in early assessment and intervention, to meet the literacy needs of all learners.

Each of the winning establishments had aspects of their journey showcased at the event, and councillor Fiona Campbell presented the awards.

Ms Campbell said: "This inclusive approach creates a community of learners where everyone is encouraged to fulfil their potential.

"The efforts, dedication and continued commitment showcased today are a real inspiration. I congratulate them all on their well-deserved recognition."
