Nicola Benedetti to teach young musicians across Scotland
The 30-year-old from North Ayrshire is offering 500 players the opportunity.
Violinist Nicola Benedetti is to help teach hundreds of young musicians across Scotland for a series of shows, ahead of a mass performance together.
The 30-year-old, from North Ayrshire, is working with Big Noise - which is celebrating its 10th anniversary - to offer 500 players an opportunity to take part in the one-off Super Strings sessions.
During four days across September and October, they will work with Ms Benedetti and experience working with peers at their level from across the country.
She said: "Whether the children are learning at Big Noise, in-school or privately, are at beginner, intermediate or advanced level we are all united in our love for string playing and music making.
"I can't wait to come and be with so many young musicians in Scotland at the same time, hear them play and work on improving together.
"There is an incredible amount of musical talent and creativity in Scotland and many excellent teachers in music education sharing their passion, dedication and expertise with young people.
"I'm delighted that we are all able to pass on our gift of music making to the next generation in Scotland."
More than 2500 children attend Big Noise each week at centres in Glasgow, Stirling, Aberdeen and Dundee.
Independent research shows the programme has a range of benefits including engagement with education, developing life skills and offering respite for vulnerable children.
The string ensemble performances are taking place in Aberdeen, Stirling, and Glasgow.
The project will finish with the Festival of Strings Day at Caird Hall, Dundee on October 9.
