The third annual Ardrossan Castle Carnival is set to launch this weekend.

Attendees are encouraged to test their skills in archery, cheer on their favourite knight at the famous joust by Jousting Scotland, and become a guardian of the castle.

There will also be a parade to start oft the event, followed by bands, displays, castle tours and children's attractions.

All festival workers will be dressed up in full costume to fit with the theme of the day, and attendees are encouraged to get involved.

Speaking to STV2's Live at Five, Suzanne Fernando from the carnival said: "The carnival is a great way for the community to come together and share information about the history of the castle.

"It's also about bringing in new people to the area and putting Ardrossan on the map."

The Ardrossan Castle Games will take place on Saturday from 12pm to 4.30pm.
