A £6m road resurfacing programme in East Ayrshire is well under way, according to the local authority.

Almost 40 miles of roads will be extensively repaired during the work, with some of the council's worst roads taking priority.

These include stretches heavily affected by potholes, defects and surface fragmentation.

Teams will be resurfacing substantial stretches of carriageway in an effort to move away from temporary repairs on isolated patches and potholes.

On Monday June 11 the team will move to Mansheugh Road, Fenwick where 620m will be resurfaced between Mansheugh Road, Main Road and Kirkton Road.

The following Monday they will move to Neilston Road in Dunlop, where 1500 metres will be resurfaced.

They will then move to the C22 and Riverside Gardens in Cronberry and Irvine Road and Yardside Road in Kilmaurs.

The Ayrshire Roads Alliance, on behalf of the council, has apologised for any inconvenience caused by the works.
