Major £236,000 resurfacing project announced for A76
For the works, there will be a 52.4 mile diversion in place next weekend.
A £236,000 resurfacing project has been announced for the A76.
Scotland TranServ will resurface around 1km o fthe A76 at Crockroy near Kirkconnell.
There will be a 52.4 mile diversion in place next weekend to allow the works to be carried out.
The trunk road will be closed from Friday, June 8 until Monday, June 11, with an additional two overnight closures on June 11 and June 12.
Scotland TranServ's principal road design engineer, Alan Murray, said: "This is the first project in a summer programme of investment for the A76.
"The trunk road, one of the most exposed in South West Scotland, has been significantly affected by repeated freeze-thaw cycles during a prolonged winter.
"Scotland TranServ is accelerating a number of projects to address these carriageway defects.
"We've been working with local authorities and key stakeholders to schedule these improvement works to be delivered with as little disruption on the communities as possible.
"The weekend closure will be necessary to carry out this lengthy resurfacing scheme as efficiently as possible."
