Three-year crackdown on antisocial behaviour announced
South Ayrshire police have unveiled a strategy plan to tackle crime in the area.
Cracking down on violence and antisocial behaviour will be the top priority of police in South Ayrshire over the next three years.
Tackling drug and alcohol abuse and protecting people at risk of harm will also be goals in the coming months, according to a new strategic plan.
Other priorities in the region include improving road safety and reducing theft.
The plan has been tailored to South Ayrshire but also aligns with the Scottish Government's National Performance Framework.
It runs until 2021, with regular reviews to ensure police resources are being used to their fullest capacity.
Chief superintendent Paul Main, the local policing commander, said the plan built on a "very strong foundation".
He added: "Crime and offending behaviour has fallen consistently in recent years and we have enjoyed a very productive working relationship with our community planning partners that has allowed us to develop innovative and effective approaches to preventing crime and addressing local issues.
"I am only too aware that communities and services face great challenges in a period of financial constraint and changing demand, but there are also real opportunities for us to improve service delivery and make a decisive shift towards preventing crime and harm."
