Motorcyclist fighting for life after two-vehicle crash
The 52-year-old is in a critical condition following the smash in North Ayrshire on Sunday.
A motorcyclist is fighting for life after a two-vehicle crash in North Ayrshire.
At around 8.35pm on Sunday, the 52-year-old's bike collided with a black Audi A1 at the junction between Cochrane Street and Glasgow Street.
Emergency services attended the scene and the man was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley.
Staff described his condition as critical, and the driver of the Audi was uninjured.
The road was closed for around six hours while enquiries were carried out.
Sergeant John Denholm from Irvine Road Policing Unit said: "This incident has left a man with critical injuries in hospital. It is vital we find out exactly what happened.
"Cochrane Street is one of the main routes in and out of Kilbirnie and therefore there would have been people in the area at the time.
"We are looking to speak to anyone who was in the area and either seen the collision take place, or witnessed the motorbike or the black Audi A1 prior to the incident.
"We would also appeal to anyone who may have dash-cam footage that could assist us in our enquiries."
Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 4084 of Monday, May 28, 2018.
