Business owners voice concerns over five-week road closures
After the five week road closures, an 18-month refurbishment will take place.
Business owners in Irvine have voiced concerns over the impact road closures could have on trade, as work is set to begin on improving the town centre.
Parts of the High Street will shut to traffic for five weeks from June 4 as drainage works take place, before the 18-month refurbishment gets underway.
The public say a further cause for concern is bus access to the street.
Duncan George from local business Irvine Cycles said: "We've had no letters, no one has visited our store or even spoken to me about exactly what's going to happen."
However, North Ayrshire Council said it has tried to keep disruption to a minimum by consulting with the transport operators.
Councillor Alex Gallagher said: "We're still working with the buses to work out a plan of action to see how best we can minimise disruption."
