A pathology expert has told a murder trial fractures in the victim's neck occurred several days before she died.

Dr David Mangham told the High Court three different fractures in Sharon Greenop's neck could have caused significant problems in her breathing and her ability to drink.

Sharon's sister Lynnette Greenop, 40, and daughter Shayla Greenop, 20, are accused of murdering the 46-year-old at their home in Troon, South Ayrshire.

It is claimed Sharon was assaulted on various occasions between September 8 and November 10 2016, when her body was found.

The expert from Manchester University also said he'd identified nineteen rib fractures which had happened on at least two different occasions.

Sharon is stated to have been so severely hurt that she died.

The two accused, who both live in Ayr, South Ayrshire, deny all charges and the trial continues.
