Irvine Harbourside plans have been unveiled, showing proposals for over 1000 new homes.

North Ayrshire council wants to make best use of the Harbourside's "unique location, heritage and environment" to create new opportunities for local people, and attract new investment into the area.

In particular, the proposals include support for a new residential development, public leisure facilities and making use of current vacant land.

The physical and digital links between the town centre and harbourside are also looked at in the proposals, to enhance the "vitality and vibrancy" of town centre and harbourside.

A number of consultation events will be held over the next two months for residents to have their say on the proposed plans.
