Scottish Power supports Kilmarnock regeneration project
The energy giant has announced a new £5m project creating economic growth for East Ayrshire.
Scottish Power has announced plans to support Kilmarnock's £65m regeneration project.
The Halo project plans to create a commercial, educational, cultural, leisure and lifestyle quarter of the town, including an unique Enterprise and Innovation Centre, all fuelled by renewable energy.
The new hub aims to foster the next generation of entrepreneurs focusing on innovation, digital skills and cyber security, and could create 1400 new jobs in the area.
The energy giant is launching a £5m project with the centre to increase job prospects for young people, provide a cyber and digital learning facility and explore energy innovations for a lower carbon society.
Scotland's First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, said: "This partnership is great news for the Ayrshire and Scottish economy.
"It is hugely inspiring to see the Halo development contributing to the regeneration of Kilmarnock and doing so in a way which supports innovation, digital skills and, through this partnership with Scottish Power, contributing to Scotland's low carbon future."
