Motorists face delays as part of A78 closes for resurfacing
This is the last of three stages of a £1m resurfacing programme for the A78.
Motorists are facing delays this weekend as part of the A78 closes for resurfacing.
This is part of a £1m Scotland TranServ programme which has taken place in three separate stages, with this weekend's work being the last.
As a result of the narrow widths of the A78, 0.8km of trunk road at Wemyss Bay will be closed in order to complete the works, and diversion routes are significant.
The trunk road adjacent to Wemyss Bay ferry terminal will be closed from Friday at 8pm until Monday at 6am.
Scotland TranServ's principal road design engineer, Alan Murray, said: "We've spoken directly to community councils and asked for their input and agreement in the scheduling and format of this extensive programme of work.
"Due to the limited available road width of the A78 it will be necessary to close the trunk road to ensure the safety of our workers and of the travelling public.
"This unfortunately will mean weekend diversions.
"We would therefore ask drivers to carefully plan their journeys."
