Motorists face more delays on busy North Ayrshire road
Part of the A78 has been closed for the second weekend for major resurfacing works.
Motorist face more disruption on the A78 this weekend as another busy stretch of the road will be closed for the second time.
The North Ayrshire trunk road is undergoing more resurfacing works, this time at Skelmorlie blocking the road off until 6am on Monday.
As a result of the narrow widths of the A78, the £1m programme is taking place in three separate stages.
The first section of the 3km route was completed at Largs last weekend with the final stage to take place at Wemyss Bay on Friday, April 20.
Scotland TranServ's principal road design engineer, Alan Murray, said: "We've spoken directly to community councils and asked for their input and agreement in the scheduling and format of this extensive programme of work.
"Due to the limited available road width of the A78 it will be necessary to close the trunk road to ensure the safety of our workers and of the travelling public.
"This unfortunately will mean weekend diversions. We would therefore ask drivers to carefully plan their journeys."
