The £30m Brodick ferry terminal has officially opened, after being delayed since October.

Although construction finished last year, its official opening has been put off several times.

The opening event was initially cancelled due to the passing of Arran aristocrat and landowner Lady Jean Fforde, as a mark of respect.

It was then delayed again as a result of the passenger access system not receiving its final CE marking for operation.

Finance secretary Derek Mackay MSP led the ceremony on Thursday, with Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (CMAL) chief executive Kevin Hobbs.

Mr Mackay said: "This is an example of the government investing in island communities.

"We've lowered ferry fares, we're building new vessels and here, the redevelopment of the harbour is just fantastic."
