A man has been seriously injured after being stabbed in a housing estate.

The knife attack happened at Milton Terrace in Hamilton at 5pm on Tuesday.

A 37-year-old man was walking along the street when two others got out of a BMW and stabbed him with a knife.

The attackers then drove off in the car, leaving the man seriously injured.

He was taken to Hairmyres Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Detective constable Grant Robertson said: "A man has been subjected to an unprovoked attack and it's imperative we trace the two men responsible.

"I am appealing to people who were in the area around the time of the incident who may have seen anything to get in touch.

"I would also appeal to motorists who were driving in the vicinity for any dash cam footage they may have.

"Perhaps your camera has caught the black car which was used as a means of escape for the suspects. Any small piece of information could prove vital so please do get in touch."
