Council prepared to spend more to revamp Ayr centre
South Ayrshire Council is holding public sessions to show plans to the public.
The leader of South Ayrshire Council says his administration is prepared to spend more than the £19m already committed to get the revamp of Ayr's riverside quarter right.
This comes as the authority holds sessions to get public opinion on the future of a site created by a major demolition programme.
At the public sessions, designs and drawings of all plans for the heart of Ayr will will be available to the public, and staff will be on hand to discuss the projects in more detail.
STV spoke to council leader Douglas Campbell about what he envisages the extra funding would do.
He said: "We can utilise the assets that are there to create more shopping, more public open space, to put on more events, and to create that opportunity for people to come to Ayr for day trips."
