Ayrshire residents are being urged to vote individuals or groups working in the NHS or health and social care who have gone the extra mile to help them.

Funded by NHS Ayrshire & Arran's Charity Fund, Ayrshire Achieves recognises the work carried out everyday by their staff and volunteers.

Members of the public, employees of NHS Ayrshire & Arran and partner organisations have until Friday May 18 to nominate their unsung heroes.

There will be nine categories including Volunteer of the Year and Young Employee of the Year.

John Burns, NHS Ayrshire and Arran chief executive, said: "We want to hear about the many wonderful people, projects and plans that recognise the purpose, values and commitments of our organisation.

"Every day we hear of examples of our dedicated staff going the extra mile. They don't do this in anticipation of awards, but because they are committed to providing safe, high quality care.

"This is an opportunity, however, for their colleagues and members of the public to say, 'We noticed!' So if you know of someone who deserves to be recognised, we would be delighted to hear from you."
