People are being encouraged to donate unwanted sports equipment or musical items instead of throwing them away.

Pass It On week is a national campaign dedicated to raise awareness of swapping, sharing, upcycling, donating or buying second-hand items instead of sending them to landfill.

To help people take part, North Ayrshire Council has placed information boards across the area is holding an upcycling workshop at Brodick Library on Wednesday.

This year's campaign, which launched on Saturday and runs until Sunday, shines the spotlight on how donating unwanted sports equipment can help support sports groups.

Anyone that wants to pass sports equipment on can drop items into the collection box at the information boards or hand them into Kilwinning Sports Club.

As well as sports equipment, Zero Waste Scotland is calling on people to donate unwanted musical items which will be passed onto Music Broth's Instrument Library in Glasgow.

Instruments can be dropped off at the council's headquarters at Cunninghame House, Irvine or by contacting the council who will arrange for the instruments to be collected.
