Scots knitters help create giant WW1 centenary poppy
The funds raised will go to a charity set up to support veterans and their spouses.
Scots knitters and crocheters are taking part in a ten-month challenge to create a 13ft commemorative poppy.
The knitathon will raise funds for Erskine, a charity that supports veterans and their spouses, and hand-knitted blankets made during the project will be donated for Erskine residents.
When complete, the poppy will be made up of 1568 sections, representing the number of days of World War One.
The challenge starts on Thursday at The Creative Craft Show at the SEC in Glasgow, and participants can provide a short story, memory or name to be displayed on the stand and dedicated to those lost in the First World War.
This show is one of nine UK Creative Craft Shows contributing to the final poppy.
At the Knit and Knatter sessions, volunteers will each knit or crochet a four inch square section which will form part of the poppy.
The final poppy will be pieced together during 2018 and revealed at a show in Birmingham in November.
Jodie Firmin from the Creative Craft show said: "This is a lovely opportunity for Scottish knitters and crocheters to use their skills for this amazing project and be part of a special commemorative creation to mark 100 years since the end of the First World War."
