Scotland's only freshwater open-air pool has reopened to the public following a winter break.

The Tamar Manoukian New Cumnock Outdoor Swimming Pool reopened on Tuesday after welcoming a record-breaking 14,500 visitors between mid-June and the end of 2017.

Dumfries House Trust, which runs the facility, has drawn up a busy timetable of pool activities including aqua-fit and aqua-jogging classes.

The pool was threatened with closure in 2016 but was rescued by Dumfries House Trust, the charity founded by Prince Charles.

The charity also gifted hundreds of free swimming lessons to pupils of New Cumnock Primary School in 2017.

Prior to refurbishment, the pool typically opened from May until September, but this year it is anticipated that the swimming season will extend from March until October.
