Man arrested after being 'caught with concealed weapon'

A man has been arrested and charged after he was allegedly found with a concealed weapon in North Ayrshire.
The 42-year-old is said to have been caught with a knife at Wallace Road in Irvine on Saturday at around 11am.
The man is now being held in police custody and is due to appear at court.
Sergeant Jason Peter said: "This recovery by local officers on cycle patrol today demonstrates that stop search remains a valuable policing tactic which helps prevent, investigate and detect crime.
"The Code of Practice on the use of Stop and Search came into effect in May 2017 and puts individuals' rights at the centre of any decision to search a person while providing clear guidance to officers on conducting and recording searches.
"I would encourage anyone with concerns about crime in their community to contact their local policing team by calling 101."
