A cat found in freezing temperatures is looking to be reunited with its owners.

The young male cat was found outside in freezing temperatures in Meadowhead Road in Wishaw on Friday.

The Scottish SPCA was alerted after the unneutered feline was spotted in a garden, unable to jump the fence in the heavy snow.

Animal rescue officer Dawn Lowdon said: "We're sure someone must be missing this wee guy.

"He stopped crying as soon as I brought him into my van and got the heaters on so I don't think he's used to being outside.

"He's currently being cared for by the team at our centre in Lanarkshire where he has been named Aspen.

"If we can't find his owner then Aspen will stay in our care until we can find a suitable new home for him."

Anyone with information is being urged to contact the Scottish SPCA animal helpline on 03000 999 999.
