Man scarred for life after city centre blade attack
The 33-year-old was outside a bar in Trongate, Glasgow, when he suffered the facial injury.
A man has been left scarred for life after a vicious city centre blade attack in Glasgow.
The 33-year-old was standing outside Boteco Do Brasil in the Trongate area when he became involved in a confrontation with another man at around 12.05am on Monday.
As he walked away towards the corner of Candleriggs and Trongate, the other man followed behind and attacked him with the bladed weapon before making off.
The victim was taken by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he is currently being treated for a facial injury.
Hospital staff have described his condition as stable.
Officers investigating the incident are now appealing for information to help trace the man involved.
The suspect is described as black, about 6ft tall, bald and in his mid-30's.
At the time of the incident he was wearing a black jacket and dark coloured jeans.
Detective Constable Nicol McPherson at Glasgow City Centre CID said: "This was a vicious attack which will leave the victim with permanent scarring to his face.
"I appeal to anyone who was in the Trongate area just after midnight last night and who either witnessed the assault or who may have any information regarding the incident to contact CID at Stewart Street Police Office via telephone number 101 quoting incident number 0042 of 26 February."
