Community groups and organisations in Ayr South and Coylton are celebrating after being given fresh funding to support their work.

More than 360 people turned up to take part in the Ayr South Decision Day where they voted for their favourite community groups.

In total, 21 community groups were selected to receive up to £1000.

Among the successful projects is a new show for Coylton Gala by young people through the Ayr Gaiety Partnership.

A group helping people recovering from addiction to restore a walled garden at Auchincruive was also selected.

Councillor Douglas Campbell said: "We're committed to making life better for communities and events like these help to bring groups together and promote the wide-range of organisations looking to make a difference to peoples lives.

"Everyone who took part will have benefited from securing new funds, making new contacts, possibly finding inspiration for new ideas, simply by making a positive case for their own projects."
