New plans to transform a shopping centre into a "much needed" multiplex cinema have been unveiled.

Redesigned plans for Ayr's Kyle Centre have submitted with PJ Leggate Surveyors saying the centre is currently in bad shape and desperately needs revived.

The shopping hub will undergo a "dramatic transformation" in a bid to be "something great for the community".

Proposals include a seven screen cinema and a host of food outlets to open across the ground floor of the ailing shopping destination in the town's centre.

PJ Leggate Surveyors managing director Graham Hamilton said: "All shops inside will go and be replaced by the cinema and restaurants. Its exciting as it is much needed for the town.

"The centre is also right in the heart of the town which will be great as sometimes it feels like Ayr is dead in the evenings but this will give people something to enjoy.

"We would love to be able to start this year that is definitely the aim but just need to see how it goes."
