Shared educational campus plan proposed for South Ayrshire
Pupils of Glenburn Primary and St Ninian's Primary would share the same campus.
A new shared educational campus is being proposed for schools in South Ayrshire.
The proposal is to build two new schools and a new early years centre on the same campus.
South Ayrshire Council has issued letters advising parents and carers from Glenburn Primary and St Ninian's Primary, the two schools that will move to the area, of the proposals.
The aim is to provide pupils, parents, carers, staff and the local community with facilities that would transform learning and teaching, and enhance services available to local people.
Each school would retain its own name, identity, staff and pupils while the new early years centre would have its own dedicated centre manager.
Director of educational services Douglas Hutchison said: "This is only the very first step of what will be - if approved - a clear and open process that will give parents, carers, staff, pupils and local people the chance to be involved from the outset, and have their say.
"We have a very successful track record of working in partnership with our school communities through proposed changes and we would intend to do exactly the same this time if the proposed consultation gets the go-ahead for Glenburn and St Ninian's."
The request to progress the proposed consultation will be considered by councillors on February 13.
