A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder near a Morrisons supermarket.

Another man, 24, was left seriously injured after allegedly being assaulted on Paisley Road West in Glasgow at 12.45am on Monday.

He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Officers cordoned off the area near Berryknowes Road while forensic teams were called.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "We received reports of a 24-year-old man being found seriously injured on Paisley Road West around 12.45am on Monday morning.

"The man was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment.

"A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder."
