A man forced his way through the back window of a house and threatened the couple living there in an attempted robbery.

The incident happened at around 7.40pm on Friday on Cromalt Crescent in Bearsden, Glasgow.

The man threatened the couple, both in their mid-60s, into handing over their belongings.

However, he fled empty-handed with two other men who had been loitering outside when an alarm went off.

They left in the direction of a nearby BP petrol station, where they may have gotten into a vehicle.

Detective inspector Jim Biggam, from Glasgow Stewart Street CID, said: "Thankfully nobody was harmed, or anything stolen during this incident however the couple have been left extremely fearful and shaken.

"We have been conducting door to door enquiries and checking CCTV within the area in order to trace the suspects involved and are looking for anybody with any further information to come forward and contact us."
