The body of a man has been found after a fire ripped through a house.

Emergency services were called to Bruce Dewar Mews in Dumfries at 4.15pm on Wednesday.

A man was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was later identified as Stuart Collis, 51, who lived alone in the property.

An investigation is due to take place to identify the cause of the blaze.

The procurator fiscal has been informed.
