A train has derailed causing rush hour chaos for commuters.

ScotRail has cancelled a variety of Glasgow Central services following the incident at a depot in Ayr on Thursday night.

Trains have been cancelled between Glasgow Central and Ayr and Ardrossan Harbour.

Services between Kilmarnock and Stranraer are also not running due to the derailment.

First Bus is accepting tickets on the affected routes.

The disruption is expected to last until 10am.

A ScotRail spokesman said: "Our staff are continuing to work hard to get the affected train back on the rails so that we can get other trains out of the depot."
