One person had to be taken to hospital after a fire ripped through a flat in Millport.

Appliances from Largs and Millport attended the blaze at a ground floor flat on Cardiff Street at around 9am on Thursday morning.

The casualties were taken to hospital but their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A spokesman for Scottish Fire and Rescue said: "Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used high powered hoses to extinguish the flames and one casualty, who had exited the property prior to our arrival, was taken to hospital by the Scottish Ambulance Service as a precautionary measure.

"Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe."
