Bogus workmen target 85-year-old woman at her home
Two men attended the address stating that drain work had to be carried out.
Police are appealing for witnesses after an 85-year-old woman was targeted by bogus workmen in Alloway.
Two men visited her address and told her work had to be carried out on a drain, which they said they could do for a reduced cost of £4000.
The pair were wearing workmen's safety clothing and using a white or grey 4x4 when they turned up at the address on Corton Road at around 9.45am on December 14.
Police are appealing for public to assist in identifying the men, who spoke with English accents, and trace any other victims.
Detective constable Janet Ferguson said: "These men targeted an elderly vulnerable woman who was alone within her home.
"It is possible that these men may have attended at other nearby addresses within the Alloway area on the same day.
"If someone attended at your door recently that you were unsure of, or if an elderly relative has informed you of a similar incident please contact us."
Anyone with information can call Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted.
