High standard of care promised after death of love one
This follows concerns about waiting times throughout 2016's festive season.
Residents in Ayrshire are being promised a high standard of service and care following the death of a loved one throughout the festive season.
North Ayrshire Council has created its first bereavement charter after concerns about waiting times over Christmas and New Year last year.
The local authority has teamed up with funeral directors offering appointments within 48 hours and out-of-hours services.
Councillor Jim Montgomerie said: "I want to thank all members of the working group who have come together with the ultimate aim of providing best possible service to families who have lost a loved one.
"As a result, we believe that we will see more effective working practices and better communication between ourselves, funeral directors and the clergy.
"We hope that our commitment to the charter will provide greater peace of mind to families during what will be a traumatic time for them."
