Motorists face disruption as part of the A77 is closed for resurfacing from Thursday for five days.

Part of the road southbound from Adamton to Raith Burn will be shut as the works take place from 8pm on Thursday until 6am on Sunday.

The £135,000 project is part of Transport Scotland's strategic trunk road maintenance programme.

Scotland TranServ assistant engineer Jane Maclennan said: "We've scheduled this short project alongside Police Scotland, the local authority and major local stakeholders.

"Works have been programmed for periods of lowest traffic flow, overnight and at the weekends.

"In order to keep traffic flowing only single lane closures will be implemented on Saturday and Sunday during the day, with local diversions in place overnight while full southbound closures allow our operatives to work as quickly and safely as possible."

The northbound carriageway will remain fully operational throughout the works and drivers are asked to allow an additional 20 minutes' journey time due to the diversion.
