Suicide prevention charity gets £5000 funding boost
The money comes from bereaved families as part of a UK-wide recycling scheme.
A suicide prevention charity has been given a £5000 boost from South Ayrshire Council after donations by bereaved families.
The money has been raised from the removal of metal implants, which are then recycled, from bodies after services at Masonhill Crematorium in Ayr.
As part of the UK Crematoria recycling metals scheme, with the permission of the deceased person's family, any leftover metals can be recycled and the money used to help bereavement charities.
Beautiful Inside & Out was set up by Pauline Moriarty in 2013 following the suicide of her 13-year-old daughter Jenna.
The charity is there to help teenagers who may be struggling with mental health issues and also provides support for families who have lost a loved one to suicide.
Ms Moriarty said: "I am extremely grateful for this wonderful donation as it will help Beautiful Inside & Out promote positive feelings of self-worth.
"The funding will be used to provide support for troubled young people and bereaved families of suicide victims, through music therapy, play therapy, counselling and drop-in sessions."
Councillor Ian Cochrane said: "We are able to make these donations thanks to the generosity of bereaved families.
"I'm sure they take some comfort knowing that the funds will be used to tackle teenage suicide and provide support where it's needed."
