A bar in East Ayrshire has won the DogBuddy.com Dog-friendly Pub Awards for Scotland.

The website announced the winners of its nationwide competition on Wednesday, as voted by people across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

The Failford Inn in Mauchline took top spot while the nearby Sorn Inn came a close second.

The awards recognise pubs that embrace "paw power" and welcome just two and four-legged customers alike.

They also promote dog friendly values across pubs nationwide, encouraging owners to visit their local pubs.

Failford Inn landlady Sara Sutherland said: "I literally jumped out my seat when I heard we'd won the title. I absolutely love dogs so this means the world.

"We have a lot of walks in our area and so many people wouldn't come into our pub if we didn't allow dogs in. We love our doggie customers".

DogBuddy founder Richard Setterwall said: "For the second year running, DogBuddy - with the help of dog lovers up and down the country - has been searching for the best of the best when it comes to dog-friendly pubs.

"With the Failford Inn, we've found just that.

"The superb service demonstrated shows a real consideration for dog welfare and happiness, which we at DogBuddy value above all."
