A man has been left scarred for life after being attacked in Inverclyde.

The 40-year-old was slashed across the face and beaten up by three men who jumped out of a dark coloured car in Port Glasgow.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the incident, which took place on Parkhill Avenue at around 8pm on Monday night.

The victim was taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital, where he received treatment for his injuries before being released.

A police spokeswoman said: "Between 8pm and 8.15pm on Monday, October 30, 2017, a 40-year-old man was was assaulted by three men who got out of a dark coloured vehicle in Parkhill Avenue, Port Glasgow.

"The injured man was treated at IRH for a facial injury before being released."

Enquiries are continuing.
