Man killed wife who was convinced she had lung cancer

A man killed his wife, who thought she had lung cancer, by putting a pillow over her face.
Ian Gordon ended the life of his wife Patricia at their home on North Drive in Troon.
The 67-year-old was cleared of murdering his wife after suffering from diminished responsibility.
At the High Court in Edinburgh, Gordon was sentenced to three years and four months in prison following the incident on April 28.
He gave up work in 2015 to look after his 63-year-old partner.
Patricia Gordon was convinced she had lung cancer but did not want to be diagnosed or treated for the disease.
She also had a history of anxiety and depression, and a deep-rooted fear of hospitals.
Defence counsel Gordon Jackson QC described the killing as "a final act of love".
Passing sentence, Lord Arthurson said: "There are powerful mitigatory factors in your favour.
"However, given the nature of the charge to which you have been convicted of, a custodial sentence is inevitable."
