The official opening of the new Brodick ferry terminal has been cancelled due to the passing of Arran aristocrat and landowner Lady Jean Fforde.

The 96-year-old passed away at her home on the island on Friday.

As a mark of respect, the Caledonian Maritime Asset Ltd (CMAL) have decided to postpone the opening of the new £30m terminal.

MSP Derek MacKay and MSP Humza Yousaf were due to attend the official opening event on Monday which will now be rescheduled for a later date.

A spokesperson for CMAL said: "Our thoughts and condolences are with the family of Lady Fforde at this sad time.

"The opening will be rescheduled, and details will be shared when confirmed."
