A 20-year-old man has died after being found with head injuries in a field in North Lanarkshire.

Jack Wilson, from Newarthill, was found unconscious and with serious head injuries on waste ground in Keir Hardie Avenue, Holytown.

Mr Wilson was taken to Wishaw General Hospital where he died on Monday.

A 15-year-old male has been arrested and remains in police custody in connection with the incident.

A police spokesman said: "A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
