More than 1300 P7 pupils from East Ayrshire became detectives for the day at a special learning event.

Danger Detectives is delivered by Vibrant Communities in partnership with Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue, Stagecoach, colleagues from the across the Council and East Ayrshire Leisure.

Through interactive workshops the children learned how to react to dangerous situations, the role of the emergency services and also how to protect vulnerable people in their communities.

Councillor Jim McMahon, Cabinet member for older people and community safety, said: "Our young people are now armed with knowledge and have the confidence to protect themselves, and their friends, from potentially dangerous situations.

"The world has changed significantly in recent years and internet safety has never been more important. The young people were given practical and straight forward advice on how to protect themselves online and when using social media."
